Ok, so I forgot to pick up hair conditioner again, as I am reminded on a Sunday night by the women at home. I've always wanted to make my own conditioner, so I look it up online.
Hair conditioner is composed of moisterizers & oils, acidifiers, detanglers, reconstructors, etc (for more info please click here). My goal was to make the conditioner from regular household items found in my kitchen. As much as possible, I want to use items that are safe enough to eat when I'm cleansing or moisturizing my skin or hair; hence I use oil moisturizers, and now I make my own conditioner. Here's my recipe.
Blend together the following items:
1/2 local avocado
1/4 banana
1/4 lemon, juiced
about 2Tb aloe vera, store bought
about 1Tb soy protein
about 1ts organic coconut oil
about 1ts orange flavored vodka
about 1ts rose water
The consistency was like conditioner. It tasted ok, but I wasn't making it for consumption. I bottled the conditioner into an empty agave nectar bottle, and kept it in the refrigerator.
Having used commercial conditioners filled with chemicals all my life, at first I was disappointed in how my hair felt wet with the conditioner in it. I left the conditioner in for a few minutes then washed it off.
After drying my hair, I LOVE how it feels. My hair is soft, untangled, and has volume. It is great!
I recommend trying this recipe, and please experiment by substituting different items. I'd love to hear what works for you!

did you shampoo after the conditioner or before?
I shampoo-ed first and then conditioned after.
