1. Answer: Vegetarians have lower risks of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and obesity because they do not consume meat, which are high in saturated fat. Saturated fat clogs the arteries, causing heart disease and stroke. Compounds from eating red meat become incorporated into the body, leading to inflammation and cancer.

Notes:
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of Research at the pH Miracle Living Center in San Diego, California, "meat never completely breaks down and thus ferments and rots in your gut releasing acids, such as uric and nitric acid that destroys the root system (intestinal villi) in the small intestine that causes diabetes and then cancer. Eating meat also causes a double loss of alkaline minerals that leads to an over-acidification of the blood and tissues and eventually sickness and/or disease." Cancer needs an acidic environment to grow.

2. Answer: Becoming vegetarian will not necessarily help you loose weight.
While vegetarians and vegans like to believe they are the sexiest, on any diet, your weight will be wholly influenced by how you eat. A vegetarian that eats healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains will weigh less, but a vegetarian who regularly eats foods such as pizza, macaroni and cheese and chocolate will gain weight.

Notes: If you would like to lose weight and have better health, eating a healthy vegetarian diet consisting of raw and some cooked vegetables, fruit, and whole grains will cut weight and reduce your chances of disease.

3. Answer: Being vegan will reduce a person's carbon footprint by 51%, according to a recent World Watch Institute study.

Notes: So whether you love your health and want to live a long life, or are concerned about environmental pollution, being vegan is good for the earth and good for your body.

Serendipity, I have not been moved from my omnivorous ways, but you make a marvelous case for it. I used to work in a nutrition store, and I remember the jars of ghee, the bottles of rose water and cardamom.

spices, though typically come in jars, and the price for them can be prohibitive (if you are used to shopping the marketplace)
